One of Spain's Loteria Nacional’s biggest draws, Lotería del Nino kicks off the New Year on January 6, just two weeks after the Lotería de Navidad draw. The exciting Spanish raffle shares the same structure as its world-famous Christmas cousin. Loteria del Nino takes place on the Feast of the Three Kings at the National Lottery Palace in Madrid.

Lotería del Nino made its debut in 1941, but 1942 saw the Spanish lottery transformed into an authentic loteria extraordinaria with its own personality. Lotería del Nino became Spain's second largest national lottery, after the Spanish Christmas Lottery, which occurs annually on 22 December.
The lottery's first draw consisted of four sets of 42,000 tickets, and every ticket was divided into ten shares. The price for each share was 15 pesetas. That year, a total of 166,668 tickets were sold, an impressive 93% of the number available for purchase.
At the outset, the Lotería del Nino prize structure contained five major prizes:
the first prize guaranteed its winner 500,000 pesetas (for a series of four),
the second prize was worth 300,000 pesetas,
the third prize was worth 150,000 pesetas,
the fourth prize was worth 75,000 pesetas, and
the fifth prize was worth 50,000 pesetas
In 1942, the number of tickets for the Lotería del Nino changed to three sets of 56,000 tickets each, and one tenth of a ticket was sold for 25 pesetas.
