Sweden - Viking Lotto Information

Sweden's Viking Lotto combines a traditional lottery structure with a great cost-benefit ratio that produces frequent winners in Scandinavia’s transnational lottery.

Viking Lotto History

Created in 1993, the Viking Lotto joined the smaller national lotteries in Norway, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Sweden to create a unified lottery with a bigger jackpot and wider participation.

Proceeds from the Viking Lotto are distributed and donated in local communities by each of the eight participating countries. Denmark puts most of its proceeds towards sporting associations and non-profits, including the Danish Organization for Disabled Persons. Finnish officials are known for allocating money towards science, the arts and youth activities.

Viking Lotto Rules

Players select six numbers from a guess range of 1-48 numbers and two bonus balls are selected from the same lottery drum as the regular guess set at the time of the draw. The bonus number counts towards the second prize of 5 + 1 only. Enter with a 5 or 10 line form, or select a systematic form, which produces all possible entry combinations from 8, 9, or 10 numbers and increases the chances of winning a prize.

Players who like the Viking Lotto's multi-national format may wish to play the EuroMillions lottery online.

Winning the Viking Lotto

Match all six numbers in the 48-number range to win the jackpot prize. Players can win one of Viking Lotto’s four secondary prize categories by matching between 3 and 5 of the numbers selected in the regular draw, or 5 numbers plus the bonus ball. Viking Lotto’s biggest jackpot, €15 Million, was awarded in March 2010.
