The New Jersey Pick Six Lotto is a US state lottery that reveals the rules of the game in its name by instructing players to ‘pick six’ numbers correctly and follow the lottery’s motto to ‘Give Your Dreams A Chance'.
New Jersey Pick Six History
The New Jersey Pick Six was introduced in May 1980 and was the first New Jersey Lottery to offer players the option of guessing six numbers in contrast to its predecessors, the Pick 3, Pick 4 and Pick 5 lotto games. While the game originally offered players the option of collecting wins as a lump sum only, in 1982 officials added the annuity option (any structured fixed jackpot payments that are given over a specified period of time) for jackpot winners.
In 1986, lottery officials added a second weekly draw and increased the guess range from 1-39 to 1-42. The guess range underwent another expansion in 1989, growing from 1-42 to 1-49 in an effort to create more rollovers and to allow jackpots to grow.
In January 2014, New Jersey Pick Six introduced the XTRA feature! The XTRA introduces a new prize category that requires only two numbers to win, thereby increasing the overall odds of winning to 1 in 7! On top of that, the XTRA feature multiplies any secondary wins by 2 to 5 times! All New Jersey Pick Six lottery tickets purchased online with theLotter automatically include this XTRA option in them.
The largest New Jersey Pick Six jackpot, of $48.9 million, was claimed in February 2001 by a couple sharing a single ticket.

New Jersey Pick Six Rules
To play, select six numbers from a guess range of 1-49. Matching all six numbers entitles ticket holders to the jackpot, while five, four and three numbers win secondary prizes. The New Jersey Pick Six is a classic lottery, with no bonus or additional numbers.

Winning the New Jersey Pick Six
The New Jersey Pick Six jackpot is won by correctly guessing 6 numbers from a range of 1-49. The state of New Jersey requires the lottery to withhold a state tax of 25% on wins over $5,000; non-US residents must pay a 30% tax on all wins over $600; and there is an additional 3% tax taken from all wins over $10,000 regardless of amount or place of residency.
