New Zealand Powerball winner from Christchurch claimed his NZD$5 million prize after over a week of being oblivious to his good fortune. When asked about what he'd like to do with the money, he said he is planning on donating a portion to groups who had helped him out during the earthquake that hit the area in 2011

The winning ticket for March 1st, Saturday New Zealand Powerball draw was bought in Redwood Mini Market in Christchurch, New Zealand. It took over a week for the winner to come forward and claim the multi-million dollar prize!

The lucky winner said he had no clue about his big win, and when eventually he went to the store to check the winning ticket he was stunned. While procrastinating with claiming the prize, the winner was very decisive about what he is going to do with the money: apart from buying a car and a house, he said he is going to donate a portion of the win to the Salvation Army and other organizations who aided him through the life-changing earthquake of 2011.

The winning numbers of March 1st draw were: 1, 9, 13, 20, 31, 33, the Powerball number was 5 and the bonus number was 38. The winning ticket holder took home NDZ$4 million from New Zealand Powerball 1st division and NZD$ 1 million from Lotto first division.
