Powerball jackpot soars to $170 million – January 30th 2012

  by: admin - Category:

The USA Powerball jackpot has been climbing to astronomical heights in recent weeks following the changes made to the lottery in the middle of the month.

Now, the top prize for this popular game is $170 million thanks to no fewer than ten draws leading to the payout increasing.

Powerball now offers bigger prizes, with all jackpots starting at $40 million rather than $20 million, while every unclaimed top prize will then have another $10 million added to it for the next draw.

The second-tier prize has also been boosted, as this payout is now a cool $1 million, as opposed to the old sum of $200,000, if a player gets all five main numbers correct on their lottery ticket.

This means matching the five main numbers with a Power Play sees the potential winnings inflate to $2 million – presenting the opportunity for dozens of millionaires with ever draw.

Indeed, some US states have announced the happy news that their regions have seen their first $1 million winners under the new system, with Indiana’s media announcing one lucky fan became a millionaire after getting five numbers correct on Wednesday (January 25th).

Furthermore, the Arizona Lottery announced it has seen its first $2 million and $1 million prizes claimed.

“This is an exciting win for the Arizona Lottery because this was only the second $2 Powerball draw since the [revamped] game launched on January 15th and Arizona’s first $1 million second prize winner,” assistant director of budget, products and communications at the organisation Karen Bach stated.

She added that many people may be happily unaware of the changes to USA Powerball and so might not realise how much their lottery ticket is worth if their fortunes have come in, so she reminded all players to check their entries very carefully when the results come in.

But, aside from the chance to win $1 million and $2 million, most players will have the top prize in their sights when they play USA Powerball and Wednesday’s (February 1st) draw is promising $170 million to the lucky fan who gets all their numbers right.

As well as becoming fabulously wealthy, the winner – whoever he or she may be – will also be the first to take home a jackpot in 2012, because the jumbo payout has not been claimed since Christmas Eve.

New Zealand Powerball winners will help family with jackpot – January 26th 2012

Christchurch New Zealand Powerball winners will help family with jackpot January 26th 2012

Christchurch: Home to New Zealand Powerball winners

After striking lucky playing New Zealand Powerball over the festive season, one family has shared in their joy at bringing home NZ$1 million to spend on their nearest and dearest.

The fortunate lotto fans – who have opted to remain anonymous – are from the city of Christchurch on theSouth Island and have revealed when they realised they had landed themselves a tidy sum for the new year they had to uncork a very special wine they had been saving for a big occasion such as this.

One of the couple revealed they had been given an expensive bottle of champagne from a friend and because of its high quality, they had always said they would save it for a big wedding anniversary or a lottery win.

“I can’t believe that we actuality opened it for the lotto rather than an anniversary,” she laughed.

Her partner had no idea about the good news until he got home that night to find the special bottle open on the kitchen table, at which point his wife handed him a piece of paper revealing the life-changing event.

The family have been playing New Zealand Powerball since the beginning and have a select few number sequenced they use when entering a draw, but in this instance, they decided to try their luck with a Quick Pick random number selection – a chance that turned out to be for the best.

Despite having a few weeks to mull over the fact they are now millionaires, the winners still say it is like living in a dream.

To make sure they are being sensible with their finances, they have opted to lock their cash away for a few months while they decide how best to spend their winnings.

Some plans have already been made, however, with regards dividing their newfound wealth and the winners hope to pay off their mortgage and buy a new car for the family with the money.

However, ensuring loved ones are all looked after is the most important thing for this clan of New Zealand Powerball fans.

“Helping out our family is also high on the priority list,” they stated.

The next New Zealand Powerball draw is scheduled for Saturday with an estimated NZ$8 million up for grabs.

SuperEnalotto, Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots swell again – January 19th 2012

  by: admin - Category:

This week has been very exciting for players of the world’s biggest lotteries, not least because the USAPowerball‘s recent changes came into effect.

Aside from this, two of the world’s other lotto heavyweights have been as thrilling for fans as they have always been, with both the Italian SuperEnalotto and the USA Mega Millions seeing their jackpots bumped up considerably in rollover draws.

The Italian SuperEnalotto has been increasing its top prize after every game since September 22nd.

Now, the jackpot stands at €54.5 million – which is not unusual for this particular lottery, because part of its appeal is the massive payouts and the frequent rollovers due to there being 90 balls in play, despite there being three draws a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The question is, how long will it take for that top prize to be won? And lotto players can find out for themselves if they enter in time for tonight’s (January 19th) draw.

Additionally, the USA Mega Millions has seen its jackpot roll over to $60 million.

This is not uncharted territory for the draw, as the Mega Millions resulted in the world’s largest ever lotto win back in 2007, when a $390 million prize was shared between winners Eddie Nabors – a 52-year-old truck driver fromGeorgia – and 57-year-old Harold Messner, a builder fromNew Jersey.

Many people have been close to winning the top payout over the past few weeks, with five players taking home the second prize of $250,000 after the last draw on Tuesday (January17th).

So, for players to be in with a chance of winning the $60 million Mega Millions jackpot, they can enter in time for tomorrow’s (January 20th) game with their chosen lucky numbers of quick pick selection.

As for the new-look USA Powerball, however, since its new rules were implemented at the beginning of the week, nobody has yet landed themselves a jackpot prize.

Because of this, the payout has rolled over and been inflated by $10 million, giving Saturday’s (January 21st) entrants $100 million to play for.

In the first draw since the changes, several lucky Powerball fans went home with a second-tier prize, which is now worth a cool $1 million.

USA Powerball changes ‘come into force this week’ – January 16th 2012

  by: admin - Category:

This weekend, one of the world’s most popular lottery games – the USA Powerball – has transformed into a draw that will mean bigger prizes and better odds, but many may still be in the dark about these recent changes.

Yesterday (January 15th), the new system was set in action, which means players from now on will be in for a different experience than before – although the famous USA Powerball format will not be left unrecognisable as a result.

Bigger prizes

Now, all jackpots will start at $40 million rather than $20 million.

Furthermore, every draw that results in a rollover that will see the top prize increased by $10 million.

The second-tier prize is also getting a makeover, with this payout being given a boost from the $200,000 it was originally, to a very generous $1 million if a player gets all five main numbers correct.

This will mean the Match 5 prize with a Power Play will be inflated to $2 million, potentially resulting in scores of millionaires with every draw.

Lower level payouts are also being increased, with those who match just the Powerball taking home $4 now, compared to the $3 they would have won last week.

Better odds

The regular USA Powerball matrix for main numbers with a guess range of 1-59 will remain the same, so fans will still pick from the number selection when buying their lottery tickets.

Odds are also being improved, because with these changes comes a new Powerball matrix, taking the number of digits to choose from for the additional number selection from 1-39 down to 1-35.

New price

To reflect this transformation, the price of USA Powerball tickets has been increased by $1 to mark the 20th anniversary of the famous game, which held its first draw on April 22nd 1992 replacing the original Lotto America lottery.

Play lotto online

Worldwide USA Powerball fans might be itching to experience this new USA  Powerball format and play lotto online in time for the very first new-style draw at theLotter.

The first opportunity people will have to play with these better odds and bigger jackpots is on Wednesday (January 18th), when they can enter to be in with a chance of winning the enormous $80 million jackpot.

Christmas Eve Powerball winners claim $128 million – January 11th 2012

  by: admin - Category:

A pair of USA Powerball fans have at long last made an appearance at the Maryland lottery headquarters to claim the $128 million jackpot they won on Christmas Eve.

The couple – who have elected to remain anonymous – were in attendance with their legal counsel when they arrived at the offices in Baltimoreand are the wealthiest top prize winners the state has seen since an historic $183 million USA Mega Millions win in 2003.

One of the new multi-millionaires revealed he bought two USA Powerball tickets on a whim after walking out of a restaurant on Christmas Eve and seeing an advert for the lottery.

He did not use his own numbers but opted for a Quick Pick random number selector and did not think about the lotto again until Christmas Day when he checked the ticket.

When it dawned on him that he was now a very wealthy man, he stomped on the floor and shouted for his wife to come upstairs. She soon came and saw her husband standing with the Powerball lottery slip in his shaking hand.

“At first, we thought we’d won $20 million. To discover it was over $125 million was unreal,” she told the press.

Marylandonly joined USA Powerball two years ago and has since produced two top prize winners, with one of these being an Abingdon couple who took home $108.8 million in September 2011.

The Christmas Eve pair are yet to decide whether they will be receiving their winnings as an annuity or in cash, but have said they want to use some of the money to pay off their debts and would like to donate a portion to good causes.

This year may hold even more exciting stories about USA Powerball jackpot winners, as the format of the draw is changing.

From January 15th, the jackpots will start at $40 million rather than $20 million and the second-tier prize will rise from $200,000 to $1 million.

Furthermore, if the player adds the Power Play to their ticket, the second-tier prize automatically jumps up to $2 million.

Lotto fans can play USA  Powerball today (January 11th) to be in with a chance of winning tonight’s estimated $54 million jackpot.

A guide to some USA lotto names – January 9th 2012

  by: admin - Category:

Following on from our guide to what some European lotto names mean, lottery fans may be left scratching their heads over what led to the names of some USA draws.

Indeed, there is much more to some of the names of these lottos than meets the eye in many cases and knowing why they have been called what they have been called could help players get a better understanding of what these draws are all about and what makes them special.

Powerball

The USA Powerball began life in 1988 as Lotto America and changed its name to Powerball in 1992.

It was the first game to use the two-drum matrix system allowing for high odds for top-tier prizes and low odds for smaller payouts. This second drum draws the Power Ball, the additional number than gives players the ‘power to win the jackpot’.

The Power Ball is chosen from this second drum and its number is filled in by the player in a different grid on the ticket from the main range of numbers. The system proved so successful that it has been adopted by many massive lottos including the Mega Millions and EuroMillions.

Mega Millions

Just like the USA Powerball, USA Mega Millions started life as a completely different draw.

The Big Game was founded in 2000, when multi-state games were growing in popularity, and then became the Big Game Mega Millions. By May 2002, the nine states of New York, Georgia, Illinois, Ohio, Maryland, Michigan, Virginia, Massachusetts and Virginia were all playing this draw and that was when the name was shortened to Mega Millions – with these states to welcome Washington, California and Texas into the group in the years to come.

Because millions of people are able to play the game, it means jackpots can roll over to higher sums more quickly – hence the name Mega Millions.

Hoosier Lottery

The USA Hoosier Lotto has – to those who do not live in its home state of Indiana – perhaps one of the more peculiar names of all the USA draws.

Indeed, the term Hoosier is another word for a resident of Indiana, which adopted the nickname of Hoosier State more than 150 years ago.

But what is a hoosier? According to Indiana University, the word was once a derogatory term to denote a roughneck or somebody who lived out in the sticks, but has since become an affectionate nickname.

So what better to call the state lotto of Indiana, especially as Indianans elected the name of the Hoosier Lotto to replace the original Lotto Cash name given to the draw back in 1994.

Are USA Powerball fans ready for some big changes? – January 3rd 2012

  by: admin - Category:

USA Powerball fans may already be aware of some of the big changes that are going to transform the game this month, but there may well be many lottery players who are unaware of the alterations.

From January 15th, the famous lottery is set to offer better odds and even bigger prizes, giving players great value for money in-line with the new lottery ticket pricing system.

So, what can fans expect form the new game?

Prizes

The new USA Powerball system will result in more millionaires.

Jackpots are being inflated from the starting sum of $20 million to a whopping $40 million.

What’s more is that following every rollover, these jackpots will increase to the tune of $10 million, which could see these massive windfalls rise in value by 50 per cent in the space of one week, as draws currently take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 23:00 local time.

Furthermore, the prize for choosing numbers that match five regular balls drawn in a game will be given a really big boost, driving up the windfall available from $200,000 to $1 million.

In addition, the Match 5 prize with the additional Power Play option will increase from the current $1 million payout to $2 million.

These changes mean there will be three times as many millionaires thanks to USA Powerball than there are at the moment.

Playing the game

Lottery ticket prices from regular outlets will be going up by $1, while the Power Play option will also be rising to $1.

But, the way lottery fans play the game will stay more or less the same.

Players will still choose their first five numbers from between 1 to 59, but for the Powerball number, individuals will choose between 1 and 35 – not 39 – increasing their odds of taking home a fabulous prize.

Additionally, the Power Play option will no longer be a multiplier, but will award fixed prizes – with second place prizes with the Power Play set at a cool $1 million.

Play Powerball at theLotter

There are four more draws before the USA changes take place but lottery fans may already be itching to play USA Powerball – and they can play the online lotto at theLotter.

The next game takes place tomorrow (January 4th) and enthusiasts could take home a huge $30 million jackpot if their numbers come in.

Lottery players who get their USA Powerball winning numbers right on Saturday (December 24th) may be lucky enough to take home a whopping $125 million, as the jackpot has climbed yet again in anticipation of the Christmas Eve draw.

It seems festive enthusiasm has had a real impact on the lotto world this week, because the USA Florida Lotto’s top prize has also been given a yuletide boost, climbing by $1 million to $50 million in the space of one day.

The USA Florida Lotto also has its draw scheduled for Christmas Eve, so there is every chance that one lucky lottery fan will be delivered a juicy cash prize by Santa Clause in time for the big day.

Regular players of these games may have been on the edges of their seats for a while now, as both lotteries have been rolling their jackpots over for weeks and weeks.

Things have been even more exciting for USA Florida Lotto fans, because its jackpot has been steadily rising since the last time somebody got all six numbers correct on their lottery ticket back on September 14th.

Stocking Are you enjoying some lottery fun this Christmas? December 21st 2011

For some, it could be that the chance of landing a tidy cash sum before the big day is too tempting to resist – after all, who would say no to the opportunity of having a full wallet at this time of year?

Other people buy up lottery tickets because they can make great stocking stuffers – and this gesture is now becoming something of a tradition in many families, especially for grandparents who may have dozens of grandchildren to treat this yuletide.

But what about all the fabulous Christmas jackpots?

Indeed, as more people get in the game over the holiday season, those top prizes tend to climb even higher than normal – especially if their draws take place on Christmas Eve or on the big day itself.

Some of the prizes that could be paid out on December 24th include the Australia Saturday Lotto, which promises a jackpot worth AU$4 million, while the New Zealand Powerball will also be played on Christmas Eve, giving fans the chance to land a NZ$5 million payout.

The Italian SuperEnalotto is also offering players the chance to take home their weight in euros on Saturday, but tomorrow’s (December 22nd) draw will determine whether the jackpot starts afresh or is rolled over to upwards of €45 million.

Also, if the USA Florida Lotto rolls over again tonight (December 21st), then its Christmas Eve jackpot could be upwards of $50 million, which could make for a very happy holiday.

Lottery lovers do not need wait until this weekend to be in with a chance of winning some of the biggest jackpots out there at the moment, as one of the very biggest cash sums up for grabs could go as quickly as tonight, if a fan’s numbers come through for them in the USA Powerball.

Finally, players could really ring in the new year playing Brazilian Mega da Virada on December 31st, because this holiday lotto is offering a top prize of R$170 million.

2011 ‘generates exciting wins for USA Powerball players’ – December 20th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

This year the USA Powerball has made hundreds of millionaires, producing some of the most thrilling jackpot prizes in North America.

In addition to the excitement surrounding these enormous payouts, the world has been reading all about the lotto fans who won them.

One of this year’s biggest prizes was the $254 million prize that was won by three wealth managers from Connecticut last month (November).

Gregg Skidmore, Tim Davidson and Brandon Lacoff founded the Putnam Avenue Family Trust – named after the street they all work on – which is where the after-tax lump sum will be held so they can access the money for themselves and their charitable efforts.

Another massive prize was scooped by a Tom and Kathleen Morris – a Minneapolis couple – who landed a $228.9 million fortune in August and stated they would use their fortune to retire early.

In September, a Maryland couple from Abingdon won $108 million, which was a fantastic coup for the state, as the pair were its first ever USA Powerball jackpot winners.

Finally, in April, William Swanson of Merrillville in Indiana won $74 million and revealed he would spend his riches on his mother and would treat himself to a new house and a Cadillac.

New Zealand Powerball player ‘lands NZ$6 million’ – December 19th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

Christmas came a week early for one lucky soul from the town of Nelson on New Zealand’s South Island, as the lotto lover scooped an enormous NZ$6 million prize playing New Zealand Powerball on Saturday (December 17th).

Chief executive of New Zealand Lotteries Todd McLeay said this is good news for the region because it is an area of the nation that has been stricken with devastating flooding over the past few months.

He added: “There are also seven shopping days until Christmas, so our latest Powerball winner has time to upgrade their Christmas presents if they wanted.”

This comes just weeks after a man from Aukland on the North Island scooped NZ$6.1 million playing New Zealand Powerball.

The lotto fan admitted that when he bought his ticket – which would ultimately win him the fortune – he used numbers that appeared to him in a dream.

Lottery players who think some of this kiwi luck could rub off on them at some stage may want to get in the game and play New Zealand Powerball in time for the next draw – which will take place on Christmas Eve (December 24th).

This coming game is estimated to have a jackpot worth NZ$5 million, which could make for a very merry Christmas for one lucky lottery fan.

Man wins $1 million using Powerball Power Play – December 14th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

One man has demonstrated to lottery fans just how opting for the Power Play multiplier when playing USA Powerball can reap dividends for lucky lotto enthusiasts.

Jose Antonetti from Havre de Grace in Maryland thought he had won $200,000 when he checked his numbers, but then he remembered he had opted for the Power Play, which entitles him to a much larger prize.

Indeed, when Emma – his wife – looked online, she confirmed that their total payout was in fact $1 million.

The Power Play feature can be purchased by USA Powerball players. This means any non-jackpot prize won in that game will be multiplied by the Power Play number drawn – 2, 3, 4 or 5.

Furthermore, the match 5 prize amount with a Power Play option will always be multiplied by 5 for $1 million.

Mr Antonetti  – who also has a daughter – said that he intends to pay off his mortgage and credit card bills and is looking forward to using his money to visit some of his family in Florida.

Fans can try out the Power Play option if they play USA Powerball today, as this evening’s (December 14th) lotto draw is set to have a top prize of $78 million.

Things are set to change for USA Powerball – December 7th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

The way lottery fans play USA Powerball is all set to change – so lotto players may want to get a better understanding for the new system and be prepared for a slight rise in ticket prices, which will come into force in January 2012.

Now, lottery enthusiasts need not panic, because these alterations may be significant, but they are only going to make this fantastic draw more exciting – resulting in much bigger prizes and exciting inflated rollovers.

USA Powerball changes

From the beginning of the new year, draws taking place on January 18th onwards will have the new minimum Powerball jackpot of $40 million – which is double the original $20 million minimum top prize that fans of the draw may already know about.

Each time a USA Powerball game results in nobody taking home the jackpot, the top prize will roll over by an additional $10 million at least for the following draw.

Now if this does not get USA Powerball fans excited already, this next change may blow their minds, as the number of Powerballs – a mandatory part of the game – in play is going down from 39 to 35 – increasing a player’s odds of winning top prizes!

Furthermore, the Match 5 prize will be boosted from $200,000 to $1 million if a player – which is the current payout if a player chooses the Power Play option.

So, this means the Power Play Match 5 prize – which increases a player’s prize if they win for an additional charge – is going up too – from $1 million to a cool $2 million.

How to play USA Powerball

Lotto fans already acquainted with USA Powerball can carry on playing exactly how they did before, but those new to the game who are tantalised by these exciting changes can buy lottery tickets online at theLotter.

Players choose five numbers from one to 59 and then select a Powerball number by either choosing their own numbers or having them picked at random using the Quick Pick option.

Lotto enthusiasts can win prizes if their ticket matches three or more numbers with or without the Powerball.

By multiplying with the Power Play option, players can increase their secondary prizes two to five times and if a person wins a second tier prize their payout is multiplied by five.

A little USA Powerball history

These major changes and a review of USA Powerball ticket prices are all to mark the 20th anniversary of the famous lottery.

The first USA Powerball draw took place on April 22nd 1982 after the original LottoAmerica game – which was launched in 1988 by the Multi-State Lottery Association – was given a revamp.

The USA is one nation that loves its lottery games, with a recent survey revealing one-in-five Americans knows a lotto winner personally.

And it is no surprise the country is in love with playing the lottery, because with big-prize draws such as USA Mega Millions and the USA Florida Lotto, it is hard to resist the hype these enormous jackpots bring about.

According to Poll Position, 62 per cent of all Americans have entered a lottery draw at some point – which also includes playing the lotto online.

This week there are some really big jackpot draws taking place in the US, with the next USA Mega Millions game taking place tomorrow (December 6th) with a top prize of $87 million.

The USA Powerball draw on Wednesday (December 7th) promises an estimated $52 million payout to anybody who gets all five numbers plus the Powerball correct.

Furthermore, the next USA Florida Lotto game – which is also on Wednesday – is going to have a top prize of around $41 million, while the Indiana Hoosier Lottery draw looks to have a jackpot of $24 million when the balls are drawn that evening too.

USA Powerball winners ‘donate $1 million to veterans’ – December 5th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

The three USA Powerball winners who landed a $254 million lotto jackpot to share between them have given $1 million of their windfall to support veterans.

Asset managers from Connecticut, Greg Skidmore, Tim Davidson and Brandon Lacoff have split their generous donation between several groups that offer help and services to those who have been in battle.

Gary Lewi, a spokesman for the trio, said on Sunday (December 4th) that the lottery winners cannot think of a bigger priority than “addressing the needs of those men and women who have defended our nation”.

One of the good causes, Building Homes for Heroes, said that at least four houses could be built with the money, while president for Operation First Response Peggy Baker described their donation of $200,000 as a “Christmas miracle”.

Chief executive officer for Services for the Under Served Donna Colonna praised the generosity of the three trustees, while the US Intrepid Fallen Heroes Foundation revealed their financial gift will go towards helping those veterans suffering from traumatic brain injury and post traumatic stress.

Charitable causes are usually a big priority for lottery winners and the generosity of the three trustees from Connecticut could inspire those entering Wednesday’s (December 7th) USA Powerball draw, which promises a jackpot of $52 million.

USA Powerball winners deny collecting jackpot for a client – November 30th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

Shortly after news emerged that three men from a wealthy part of Connecticut landed the USA Powerball jackpot, it was revealed there was a fourth gent involved – their client.

However, wealth management professionals Greg Skidmore, Tim Davidson and Brandon Lacoff – who won $254 million playing the lottery this month – have denied this speculation.

The three males claim they bought their lotto ticket together on a whim and upon realising the good news that their luck had come through set up a trust fund for the top prize.

After their story hit the papers, Thomas Gladstone, who is said to be the landlord of the company the winners all work for, revealed the assets experts are just fronting for another person in order to maintain his anonymity.

In response to these allegations, Messrs Skidmore, Davidson and Lacoff released a statement from their jointly-held Putnam Avenue Family Trust saying: “To be clear, there are a total of three trustees and there is no anonymous fourth participant.”

The gents named their fund after the street they all work on together.

USA Powerball fans may need such a trust fund if fortune favours them tonight (November 30th), as this evening’s draw is expected to yield a jackpot worth $31 million.

USA Powerball winners ‘know just how to manage their wealth’ – November 29th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

Many lotto winners may have difficulty when it comes to managing huge sums of cash following a lottery windfall, but three lucky players from Connecticut are more than qualified to take good care of their cash.

The fortunate lotto fans scooped $254 million playing USA Powerball after buying a ticket together over a month ago and know just how to handle their money owing to their jobs as wealth managers.

Gregg Skidmore, Tim Davidson and Brandon Lacoff work in a small start-up firm called Bell Asset Management in Greenwich – one of the richest towns in the country.

They came forward after mulling over the win and founded the Putnam Avenue Family Trust – named after the street they all work on – which is where the after-tax lottery lump sum will be held.

Connecticut lottery officials have confirmed that this USA Powerball win is the state’s biggest ever and is the 12th largest in the history of the game.

All three men have said that a generous proportion of their winnings will be going to good causes.

Lotto fans who like to play online Powerball can check out theLotter, as tomorrow’s (November 30th) jackpot for the popular game is set to be $31 million.

Search goes on for $77 million USA Powerball winner – November 28th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

The search continues as USA Powerball officials try to hunt down a lotto player with a ticket entitling them to $77 million in winnings.

According to the Metro Atlanta, the slip was purchased in Georgia – in all probability by a local resident – on June 29th this year.

As so much time has elapsed since the draw took place, it is unlikely the lottery fan has been using the months since buying their ticket to mull over how they will spend and invest their life-changing payout and officials are now assuming the individual is unaware their numbers came through for them after entering the USA Powerball lotto.

Lottery fans have 180 days to collect their USA Powerball prize if they are fortunate enough to scoop a cash sum, but 150 days have already passed since the June 29th game, so time is running out for the potential multi-millionaire.

Lotto lovers may live in fear of losing a winning ticket but one way they can avoid this nightmare situation is if they buy lottery tickets online.

At theLotter, players can register to receive email or SMS alerts if they are lucky enough to win a payout, while their chosen lotto numbers for each game they play are saved digitally, which means no fretting about misplaced tickets.

USA Powerball winner collects prize in limousine – November 24th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

For some lottery winners, getting used to owing a large amount of money can be a daunting thing, but for one USA Powerball player, the luxury lifestyle began even before he collected his prize.

According to Wtop, Shawn Niedomanski rocked up to the Maryland Lottery headquarters in a chauffeur-driven limousine with three of his best friends and his wife, brother and nephew to claim his $200,000 windfall.

The fortunate lotto fan had waited two weeks to go and see lottery officials about his prize money, deciding to drop by on his 50th birthday to make the social occasion even more memorable.

But despite his grand arrival to collect the lump cash sum, Mr Niedomanski has got both feet firmly on the ground when it comes to how he will spend his winnings, revealing he will use the cash to pay off his bills.

Lottery fans who do not live in the States like Mr Niedomanski can still get in on the action and play online Powerball at theLotter.

The next draw will take place on Saturday (November 26th) and lotto enthusiasts who take part could win as much as $25 million.

USA Powerball fans ‘would share jackpot with loved ones’ – November 23rd 2011

  by: admin - Category:

USA Powerball players may have noticed that last Saturday’s (November 19th) draw resulted in one lucky fan winning the coveted $59.9 million jackpot.

The ticket was sold in Exeter, Pennsylvania and the Times Leader has taken to the streets of the small town to ask its locals how they would spend such a fortune.

Shavertown resident Margo Harvey said she would share a lotto jackpot payout with everybody and would ensure family and friends were given the support they need, as well as donating some money to organisations that help children.

Carmen Donato of West Pittson revealed he would probably split such a huge amount of cash between his three sons and their families – after all, with $59.9 million, there is plenty to share around.

Tom Connell, who is 59, said he has no use for such a massive payout and so would give it all away to starving and sick people.

Wyoming resident Jeff Murphy has his plans for lottery finances all set out and claimed: “I would probably take the cash, take care of the family … [and] take a cruise.”

He also has political aspirations for his dream USA Powerball millions, revealing he would use the cash to back a Republican candidate in the next presidential elections.

The USA Powerball top prize has now reset to $20 million and lottery fans who want to try their hand at landing this tidy sum for themselves can get in the game in time for tonight’s (November 23rd) draw.

Quilting retreat ‘results in $200,000 USA Powerball win for group’ – November 22nd 2011

  by: admin - Category:

A group of 23 women enjoying a quilting retreat near Salem, Massachusetts, are celebrating after their getaway resulted in them winning $200,000 playing USA Powerball.

According to the Register Guard, the ladies – most of whom come from Eugene in Oregon, will be splitting their prize money, resulting in them getting around $5,000 apiece, with the gang using the cash to help fund future breaks together at the Silver Falls Conference Center to enjoy their pastime.

It transpires they pooled their money and bought 26 lines for the October 29th USA Powerball game – which had a $200 million jackpot.

The ladies also entered the lotto for their friends who were not in attendance and bought tickets for the draw while doing a fabric run.

Over the next couple of days, the group did what all lottery fans do – fantasize about how they would spend a top prize – before checking the newspaper and realising their luck had come in, even if it was not a jackpot win.

As a result of the good fortune, the women have been dubbed the Getaway Girls.

Adonna Roelke, who works at the Springfied-based PacificSource health insurance company and organises the quilting breaks, stated: “It’s just hard to believe. It hasn’t quite sunk in yet. For the next few years, we’ll be getting a free Sunday brunch [at the retreat].”

Lottery fans can buy Powerball tickets online at theLotter to try their hand at scooping this Wednesday’s (November 23rd) top prize of $20 million.

USA Powerball fan ‘lands $59.9 million in time for Black Friday’ – November 22nd 2011

  by: admin - Category:

Lottery fans may have been saving up for the festive spending season, but a lucky lotto player no longer needs to worry about budgeting, as the fortunate enthusiast has landed a $59.9 million jackpot.

One lottery ticket sold in Pennsylvania matched all six numbers drawn in Saturday’s (November 19th) game – making the owner of the slip incredibly wealthy in time for Black Friday, the shopping day that follows Thanksgiving in the US.

The lotto fan must be incredibly thankful that lady luck was smiling on them that particular day.

Furthermore, two fortunate lottery players from Iowa and New Jersey also picked five numbers correctly on their ticket as well as the Power Play option, only missing out on the Powerball, which entitles them to a $1 million windfall just in time for the festive season thanks to selecting the Power Play feature – which multiplies second prizes five times.

Another three USA Powerball fans picked all five numbers correctly without the Power Play, making two Florida ticketholders and one lottery lover from New Mexico $200,000 wealthier.

There is still time for lottery enthusiasts to scoop a jackpot in time for Thanksgiving and the Black Friday shopping spree that follows in the US, as tomorrow’s (November 23rd) USA Powerball jackpot is estimated to be worth $20 million.

Fans of TheLotter can play online Powerball at the site.

What is a multiplier? Lotto Terms Series Part 2 – November 16th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

In this second edition in our new series of understanding lotto terms, we want to help lottery fans boost their game by understanding what it means to choose the multiplier option.

Many lotto fans may have spotted the Megaplier when they play USA Mega Millions - this is what is known in the lottery world as a multiplier.

It is simply a way of multiplying a non-jackpot lottery prize for an additional charge.

Non-jackpot prizes are multiplied by the Megaplier number – 2, 3 or 4 – which means lotto fans can get a lot more bang for their buck if their lucky numbers come through.

In the USA Mega Millions draw, the match 5 prize – which is always $250,000 – is always multiplies by Megaplier number 4, instantly making the ticketholder a millionaire.

USA Powerball works in a similar play with its own Power Play option, which boosts a player’s non-jackpot winnings by multiplying it with the Power Play ball and entitles match 5 prize-winners to a $1 million payout, just by ticking a box.

The USA Oregon Megabucks also has a multiplier entitled the Kicker, which entitles any non-jackpot prize won in the game to be multiplied by four.

There’s no time like the present for lottery enthusiasts to give these optional extras a go to boost their winnings, with the next USA Powerball and Oregon Megabucks draws taking place today (November 16th) and the next USA Mega Millions game scheduled for Friday (November 18th).

He claimed his routine of getting a wad of 500 slips for his team first began when he was filming in the US and felt embarrassed that after two months he did not know anybody’s name.

“I thought that on a Friday afternoon I’ll whip by and buy lottery tickets for everyone and hand them out saying it’s an Australian tradition – but it’s not,” Jackman explained.

Would a USA Powerball win convince you to quit work? – October 4th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

A USA Powerball jackpot may give lottery fans the chance to live comfortably for the rest of their lives without ever working again, but one A-list actor has said that this sort of life of leisure may not make people happy in the long run.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Hugh Jackman, star of such blockbuster hits as X-Men and Van Helsing and new action movie Reel Steel, claimed that having a job to do is what stimulates a person.

“People think if I win the lottery I’ll never work again. Then you won’t be happy. We all need work,” the celebrity remarked.

He suggested that lottery winners are probably better off striking a balance between early retirement and continuing in employment and added: “We all need to contribute. But we don’t want to work too much.”

This may be food for thought for USA Powerball fans looking forward to tomorrow’s (October 5th) draw, which promises a single winner the generous sum of $58 million in prize money.

Whoever they are, this person has a life-changing sum of cash on their hands and lottery officials are keen for the individual or syndicate to make themselves known as soon as they are ready.

So far this week, nobody has come forward to claim the dazzlingly generous prize – which may be because the soon-to-be millionaire is getting used to the idea of being very wealthy and is weighing up what they will do with their newfound cash.

Going public after a USA Powerball win ‘may bring surprises’ – September 15th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

It’s a difficult decision, but one that has to be made at some point by anybody who gets lucky playing their favourite lotto games such as USA Powerball - whether or not to go public.

One expert has suggested people who want to have their picture in the papers could be met with surprises as a result of their good fortune, while another claims publicising this kind of good fortune is very positive.

Speaking to the Baltimore Sun, professor of psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University Steven Danish said that he has experience in counselling lottery jackpot winners and he commented that people thinking about allowing the media into their lives should consider the unexpected.

However, spokeswoman for the Maryland Lottery Carole Evrett said that showing pictures of “happy winners” is a good thing – perhaps because this reminds lotto fans of the kind of joy they could feel when their lucky numbers are drawn.

This week, the newspaper revealed a pair of USA Powerball winners is still deciding whether or not to go public.

The lottery official revealed the lucky winners have not decided whether they want to be identified after receiving their windfall, which was won on September 7th.

Lottery communications director Carole Evrett said: “We are hoping to get an answer soon and are, of course, hoping they agree to publicity.”

And Ms Evrett may be especially keen that the couple agree to be identified because they are in fact the first ever USA Powerball winners for the state of Maryland.

Regular playing ‘pays off’ in USA Powerball – September 12th 2011

Playing the USA Powerball on a regular basis has paid dividends for one lucky entrant who has scooped $1 million on the exciting numbers game.

Roger Lightle and his wife Kimberly, from Rosendale, Missouri have come forward with the winning lottery ticket after their lucky numbers were drawn in August, News-Press Now reports.

Missouri Lottery spokesman John Wells revealed the sum increased because the pair paid an extra $1 for the Power Play option, explaining: “By adding Power Play to the ticket, it bumped their prize to $1 million.”

And it seems patience really is a virtue, with Mr Lightle playing the game twice a week in the hope of landing a big windfall.

His dream is now a reality and the huge sum is likely to transform his family’s lives forever – and the prize was increased thanks to the couple being a little more daring in their lotto playing strategy.

‘Patience pays’ when playing the lottery – September 8th 2011

Picking a lotto game ‘is an important decision for any lottery fan’ – August 22nd 2011

  by: admin - Category:

One of the most important decisions for lottery fans to make is which lotto game to splash their cash on, as a juicy payout could depend on which draws they prefer to follow.

This is according to independent lottery expert The Lottery Guy, who provides hints and tips for people looking to maximise their chances of taking home a top prize.

“Which game to play [is] a step that almost nobody thinks about. We are either blinded by jumbo jackpots, or pick whatever game looks interesting,” he commented, adding that players should investigate the games available to them and think carefully about which ones they are more likely to win.

The Lottery Guy stated that a good way to find out which lottos are potential winners is by checking out the odds on lottery websites and comparing the different draws.

Here at theLotter there is a huge choice of lotteries to try out, with US games such as USA Powerball and USA MegaMillions and the world-famous EuroMillions draw.

Saturday (August 6th) night resulted in no jackpot winners in the USA Powerball draw, which means the top prize is now an eye-watering $220 million.

This is the second biggest jackpot for the game in more than a year, which could mean one lucky lottery player is made a very rich man or woman when the next draw takes place tonight (August 10th).

USA Powerball is known for its big winners, with the largest ever prize to be awarded in the game reaching the dizzying heights of $360 million, which was won by eight colleagues at a Nebraskan meat packing plant in February 2006.

There’s a new millionaire in the US state of Arkansas this week, as local man Randy Wagner of the town of Grubbs scooped a $1 million cash prize playing USA Powerball.

According to Arkansas Matters, the fortunate lotto fan is the tenth player from that state to win $1 million or more since September 28th 2009 – which could mean the southern destination is extra lucky for lottery players.

Mr Wagner told lottery officials that he went into work the day after the draw totally unaware that he was holding the key to a fortune and only found out when he called home to ask his daughter to read the numbers to him for him to check.

The winner drove to Little Rock with his dad Buck Wagner to collect his cash prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery on Thursday (August 4th).

And fans of USA Powerball can get in the game in time for Wednesday’s (August 10th’s) draw at theLotter, which is calculated to have a jackpot worth $220 million!

The retirees only discovered they were due a payout when a reporter on the midday news revealed a local lottery player had a winning ticket but had not yet claimed their prize.

USA Powerball million ‘still waiting to be claimed’ – July 13th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

A lucky lotto fan from Charlotte, North Carolina may need to be told to check their wallet or handbag, because they’ve been walking around with the key to $1 million since April.

According to the Charlotte Observer, one fortunate lottery enthusiast played USA Powerball for the Easter Sunday draw and has subsequently won the life-changing prize – however nobody has yet claimed this payout.

And it seems this cash could do the owner some good, as the local area was ravaged by a tornado earlier in the year, so a generous cash sum could really help the winner if they or their loved ones were affected by the extreme weather.

Lottery spokesman Van Denton is optimistic the lucky Charlotte resident will come forward and said it was not uncommon for winners to hand in their tickets on or just before the deadline date.

USA Powerball fans can try and keep tabs on their lottery tickets by playing at theLotter, because the site provides an alert service telling the player immediately if they have won.
