National Lottery Winners Were Not Aware of Their Luck

by: admin - Category: Lotto Stories, Powerball, powerball lottery

The Westbury family that won a £7.7m on the National Lottery was not aware of their luck until the supermarket worker told them. The ticket winning numbers were 15, 28, 32, 43, 44 and 45. I am guessing that no member of Westbury family will have to work any time soon. Matching six numbers is not an easy thing to do, especially in the Powerball lottery, but if you manage to succeed in this task, your efforts will be rewarded accordingly.

Mr. Westbury runs a lightning protection business and since he loves his job very much, he plans to keep running it for three or four days a week. Gongrads on the winning!

A man from Missouri who won a lottery of $ 258 million said it plans to use part of the money to pay bills, replace missing teeth and bring their children to Disney World, but not sure to quit her job in store where you purchased the winning ticket.

Chris, 29, had just $29 (£20) in his account and a stack of bills to pay when he hit the lottery jackpot with a ticket he bought from the convenience store where he works in Marshall, Missouri.

haw said he now no longer have to worry about paying their truck or utility bills.

“We had no money, it will be a great relief to know that I pay the electric bill and gas,” Shaw told The Associated Press. “It’s like if I removed a load off, had the receipts at home and did not know how I was going to pay them.”

Shaw bought the five-dollar ticket in Wednesday’s Break Time convenience store where he works in Marshall, a town in central Missouri, about 80 miles east of Kansas City.

by: JohnCurio - Category: lottery online

Back in the USA The Mega Millions Powerball Lottery jackpot of $133 million will go to a lucky resident of Long Beach California (at least that is where the ticket was sold). California doesn’t have the “Powerball” lottery but there is access to the Mega Millions plus a regular state lottery.

California has had a lottery since 1984 when residents passed proposition 37, the California State Lottery Act. Since then there have been many different types of games with most of the money going to education. In 2004 the Golden State got the Mega Million’s game.

In California all prizes (except the Mega Millions) must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing or the end of the game. Winners of the Mega Million’s game get 1 year to claim their prizes

Nigel Page, 43, and Justine Laycock, 41, won £56m – half of a £113m Euromillions jackpot – in February.

The couple have now given the keys to their four-bedroom detached home in Cirencester, Gloucestershire, to long-serving Denise Kelso.

She has also been made a present of Miss Laycock’s black Honda Civic.
Former estate agent Miss Laycock told the Mirror: “All you need to know is I love my cleaner very much.”

Mrs Kelso and her husband James, 64, have now moved out of their rented two-bedroom flat and into the house after they being made an offer they “could not refuse”.

The cleaner and Miss Laycock became good friends after meeting in 2005. Soon after Mrs Kelso started looking after her home.

Meanwhile, the lottery winners have bought a £4m, six-bedroom ‘eco-palace’ in the Gloucestershire village of Barnsley, according to The Daily Telegraph.

The mansion reportedly features a 25-seat cinema and a luxury indoor pool, and runs on just 10% of the energy of a normal house.

The couple’s neighbours in the village include models Elizabeth Hurley and Kate Moss.

Mrs Kelso has quit her numerous other cleaning jobs to concentrate on keeping the mansion clean and tidy, says the Mirror.

One of her former neighbours said the winning couple’s gift was well deserved, adding: “Denise is very hard-working – this is wonderful for her.”

A Johnston County woman is proof that sometimes persistence really does pay off.  Cynthia Parrish accepted a check Tuesday from the North Carolina Education Lottery worth $1 million.  She said her husband buys her $20 in scratch-off lottery tickets every Thursday, and her biggest winnings up until now had been $80.

Last Thursday, she scratched off one of the tickets and couldn’t believe her eyes.  “I thought he was playing a trick on me,” she said.

Parrish’s husband took the ticket back to the Hasty Mart on U.S. 70 in Smithfield and verified it was a winner worth $1 million.

“I just can’t believe it,” she said.  The family, who lives in Pine Level, said they plan to use part of the money to pay for their daughter’s college tuition.  The prize will be paid out in annual installments of $34,000, after taxes, for 20 years.

Lottery Winner Shaw McBride’s announcement that he is giving away his entire $159 million prize. McBride says he was inspired to carry out the selfless act by his friend, counselor Mitch Boatwright, who helped him find God.

While the American lottery draws give out sums that range from $5,000,000 to $200,000,000, the biggest prize ever won on the Superenalotto to date was €147,807,299. That’s about US$ 211,807,859.

March 2010 – Lottery Winner Stories

When Anthony Castro received his big ceremonial lottery check, he had this to say: “Sha-wow! This is amazing!”

Sha-wow, indeed! Anthony Castro had some big hardships in his life prior to winning $250,000 in the lottery. As a 19-year-old in New York City, he was shot in the head. He managed to survive. After the 9-11 terrorist attacks, he decided that he needed to get out of New York, in search of a calmer life. He moved to Boise, Idaho. He had no money, though, and ended up living in a homeless shelter for a little while. But he managed to get ahead. He got a job as an insurance broker, got married, and had kids. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out with his wife and they got divorced.

Anthony Castro is a religious man. He has a lucky coin; it is a spiritual coin with the Holy Trinity on it. That’s what he always used to scratch his instant lotto tickets with. And so he did when he bought an Idaho Millions instant scratch game in March of 2010. The lucky coin worked. He won $250,000! The once-homeless man is now a big lottery winner!

This is what Anthony had to say about his win: “After so much turmoil in my life, and loss of my mother a year ago, this is truly a blessing for me. My dreams, everyone’s dreams, are coming true.”

Anthony Castro said that he will donate some of his winnings to his church, put some in a trust account for his daughter, and will invest and bank the remainder.

September: Record Lottery Jackpot – 1 – USA Lump Sum

by: admin - Category: lottery online

In the USA the following are the largest single lump sum payouts:

* Andrew J. Whittaker Jr. of West Virginia, won $314.9 million in the Powerball drawing of December 25, 2002. Opting as most large prize winners in the U.S. do for the lump sum, his after-tax prize was $114 million.
* Geraldine Williams from Lowell, Mass. is the largest single Mega Millions winner, at $294 million. The $168 million lump sum she opted for was reported as $117.6 million after taxes.
* Harold and Helen Lerner of New Jersey also claimed a higher after-tax lump sum than Whittaker in Mega Millions for the September 16, 2005 drawing, as New Jersey then had no state tax on lottery prizes. They chose to receive $156 million in cash instead of the $258 million face value. Then there is a 25 percent federal withholding tax[citation needed], which left them with around $117 million.
* The October 19, 2005 Powerball drawing won by nine members of the West and Chaney families of Medford, Oregon was for a larger annuity ($340 million) but a smaller lump sum than Whittaker’s.
* On February 22, 2008, Robert and Tayne Harris of Portal, Georgia claimed the only Mega Millions jackpot ticket, with an annuity value of $270 million (cash value $167 million) before taxes. After 25% percent federal withholding and 6% state withholding, they were left with around $115 million.
