New Zealand lotto winners ‘suffered sleeplessness after win’ – December 2nd 2011

  by: admin - Category:

A pair of New Zealand lottery fans admitted they suffered sleeplessness after striking lucky playing their favourite draw.

According to Stuff, the couple won the West Coast’s largest lottery prize ever on Wednesday last week (November 23rd), scooping NZ$8.4 million – just in time for their Christmas shopping.

The pair – who have opted to remain anonymous – admitted that when they realised their numbers matched all of those drawn in the game they could not bear to close their eyes at night.

“We were too shocked to celebrate. I just had a beer and went to bed, but neither of us slept a wink,” one of the couple said.

But it was not just a case of hopping into the car and driving to collect their winnings from the lottery headquarters, as the pair stated they had to fly from their home to the NZ Lotteries Wellington office with the ticket folded into a travel pouch attached to a necklace.

And the lotto fans know just what to spend their winnings on, revealing they will still be going on their traditional Christmas camping trip.

“We’ve been granted a wonderful gift, but for now, we will continue with current plans,” they remarked.

Fans of Australasian lotteries may think they are due a bit of Kiwi good fortune.

If so, lotto lovers can log on to theLotter to play New Zealand Powerball to be in with a chance of winning NZ$5 million on Saturday (December 3rd).

Lotto winner scoops $1 million playing lucky numbers – November 28th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

A Conway man has scooped $1 million by using his lucky numbers in his favourite lottery draw.

Chris Brown of Conway, New Hampshire, received a standing ovation of congratulations from locals and staff at the convenience store where he purchased the winning ticket on November 11th.

The lottery player – who lives on a pension and social security – admitted the windfall is going to make his life a little easier, as the prize will give him $1,000 a week before taxes for the next 20 years.

Modestly, Mr Brown claims his life before the lucky lotto win was “OK” before, but admitted he is “150 per cent more OK” now.

It seems the retired hospital worker was due a payout, as he stated he has been spending $6 a week playing his two favourite sets of numbers for decades.

Mr Brown has already splashed some of his lotto cash on a new car and is thinking of taking a road trip but admits he has always had a sensible approach to spending – even if he does covet some purchases.

“I’m a fairly conservative Yankee and I take care of my money, but I have to have my toys and I’m going to get them,” he said.

Winning lottery ticket ’causes chaos for local store’ – November 25th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

A little shop in a small town in California was turned upside down after it was revealed a jackpot-winning California Super Lotto lottery ticket had been sold there but the lucky player had not come forward.

According to the Cal Coast News, in the days after the news broke that a convenience store in Paso Robles had seen one of its customers buy a slip entitling them to $78 million, locals began to take an interest in the small outlet.

The employee who sold the ticket, Mary Booker, said that without a winner coming forward, residents began to suspect the slip may have been discarded or misplaced in and around the vicinity of the shop.

She revealed there were people checking the shelves to see if a lottery ticket had accidentally been lost amid a crate of cans or a display of magazines, while some ventured into the skips outside the building and even combed through nearby rubbish bins.

It was not long before customers began to suspect the employees of the shop, asking if they were the ones who scooped the lottery jackpot.

In the end, Korean War veteran Charles Hairston, who is 82, came forward to collect his $78 million top prize after 18 days of sitting on his ticket, despite realising his good fortune the very night he bought it on November 1st.

Lotto fans who are dreaming of a Californian lottery win just like Mr Hairston could try their luck at playing USA Super Lotto at theLotter to be in with a chance of winning $10 million in Saturday’s (November 26th) draw.

$245 Million Won, Ticket’s Whereabouts Unknown

  by: admin - Category:

The historic Powerball jackpot has been claimed by an anonymous Connecticut resident. The only thing missing: the ticket!

Now, this Connecticut local is rummaging through his recycling, checking the dryer’s lint collector, and searching under couch cushions for the lucky ticket in the November 2nd draw which entitles the holder to the $245 million jackpot.

Suni Patel, owner of the Belltown Superette in Stamford where the ticket was sold, reported that a distressed man came in claiming to have bought the winning ticket at her convenience store but was unable to find the auspicious voucher.

At theLotter, all tickets are securely stored in local offices, and a scanned copy of the ticket is displayed in your account so that ownership is never in doubt. Plus, receive instant email and SMS winning notifications to ensure that you catch your windfall!

While the jackpot winner remains empty-handed, 19 second place winners received $200,000 each for correctly guessing 5 numbers, 12-14-34-39-46, without the jackpot-making powerball,  36.

By adding the Power Play option, newly available at theLotter.com, these 19 lucky winners could have made themselves millionaires, multiplying the second place prize by 5 times! The Power Play option enables savvy players to increase already attractive second prizes by 5 and other non-jackpot wins by 2-5, according to the Power Play drawn.

Will there be redemption for the jackpot winner? All win claims must be staked by April 30, 2012, giving the Connecticut man the chance to shake out his pockets a few more times before the jackpot slips through his fingers.

How to spot if a neighbour won the EuroMillions – July 14th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

There’s been much talk since it was revealed the record €185 million EuroMillions jackpot was scooped by a UK lottery player, but as yet nobody knows who the lucky winner is.

The Sun, however, has suggested ways to spot if the new multi-millionaire lotto fan is based closer to home than you might have originally thought.

One thing to look out for, it recommended, was a super yacht, as these may look a little out of place in most humble British neighbourhoods.

In addition, if the family dog has been given a celebrity-style makeover then this may also indicate there is cash to be splashed.

Furthermore, if big name performers are seen plodding up the drive with their mics and sound guys for a private show then this is a dead giveaway there’s serious money being spent all of a sudden.

And if you’d like the chance to plant an enormous powerboat in front of your home to make the neighbours jealous then entering the next EuroMillions draw on Friday (July 15th) on theLotter could give you the chance to take home a lottery win.

USA Powerball million ‘still waiting to be claimed’ – July 13th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

A lucky lotto fan from Charlotte, North Carolina may need to be told to check their wallet or handbag, because they’ve been walking around with the key to $1 million since April.

According to the Charlotte Observer, one fortunate lottery enthusiast played USA Powerball for the Easter Sunday draw and has subsequently won the life-changing prize – however nobody has yet claimed this payout.

And it seems this cash could do the owner some good, as the local area was ravaged by a tornado earlier in the year, so a generous cash sum could really help the winner if they or their loved ones were affected by the extreme weather.

Lottery spokesman Van Denton is optimistic the lucky Charlotte resident will come forward and said it was not uncommon for winners to hand in their tickets on or just before the deadline date.

USA Powerball fans can try and keep tabs on their lottery tickets by playing at theLotter, because the site provides an alert service telling the player immediately if they have won.

Lottery players urged to remember winnings deadline – June 21st 2011

  by: admin - Category:

The UK Lotto has reminded ticket buyers that they have to come forward and claim their prize within 180 days of the draw, as a winning cash payout could make a significant difference to somebody’s life.

This plea comes as Surrey residents are urged to check their jeans pockets and handbags, as one local is entitled to claim £90,660 after buying a lottery ticket with five matching Lotto numbers and the bonus ball for the May 28th game, the Surrey Herald reports.

According to the strict cut-off date rules, the player has until 17:30 GMT on November 24th this year to receive their payout.

A UK Lotto spokesperson was quoted by the news source as saying: “Someone out there could literally be sitting on a fortune! We have the champagne on ice and our fingers crossed that the lucky winner comes forward.”

A UK EuroMillions player in Stockport is yet to become £1 million richer as they have failed to come forward after buying a winning ticket for the June 7th draw.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the individual did not win the lottery draw itself but is entitled to the life-changing payout as a result of being entered into the raffle competition, which guarantees a million to at least one ticket holder every week.

The lucky soul is said to have paid £2 to take part in the twice-weekly EuroMillions draw at the beginning of the month and will have until December 4th to claim the cash, otherwise it will be put towards good causes.

Lotto officials are urging ticket buyers in Stockport to check their pockets and wallets so the winner can claim their juicy lump sum before it is too late.

Winning Powerball ticket set to expire – April 28th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

The clock is ticking on two unclaimed Pennsylvania Lottery tickets – a Powerball ticket worth $200,000 and a Quinto mid-day ticket worth $50,000.

The ticketholders won the prizes on May 12th and 11th 2010 and have exactly one year from the drawing dates to claim the cash.

Lottery officials are now urging all players to take a close look at their tickets. “One of our players could have a big winning ticket sitting on a desk, stashed in a closet or tucked into a coat pocket and not even know it,” said Drew Svitko, Lottery interim executive director.

However, missing out on a big cash prize is practically impossible for players using TheLotter – all winners are notified immediately and prizes can be automatically deposited into their accounts.

A single winning Powerball ticket was recently sold in Indiana for the second time in a month. Saturday’s draw came with a life-changing jackpot of $74 million.

National Lottery Lotto prize goes unclaimed – April 28th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

A prize of more than £130,000 won on the National Lottery’s Lotto draw last year has gone unclaimed.

Camelot announced the deadline for exchanging the ticket has now passed, meaning the money and the interest earned on it since October have been given to Good Causes.

A spokesperson for National Lottery stated: “We tried very hard to find the ticketholder and it’s a real shame that they have missed out.”

The ticket was bought in the Bristol area and matched five numbers as well as the bonus ball. One way to avoid a similar situation is to play the lottery online at TheLotter, as winners are notified immediately.

Meanwhile, the latest Lotto draw has created a millionaire, with last night’s (April 27th) winning numbers of 6, 15, 27, 32, 37 and 44 being matched by one player. They will receive a jackpot of over £7.1 million, while 12 players who picked five numbers plus the bonus ball of 3 will receive £72,000 each.

Powerball jackpot of $74 million remains unclaimed – April 27th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

Powerball players have been urged to check their tickets after a $74 million jackpot was hit over the weekend.

Hoosier Lottery officials noted the winning ticket was sold in Indiana for the second time in a month, but the lucky player has not yet claimed their prize.

The winning numbers were 3, 11, 47, 48 and 58, while the Powerball drawn was 19.

Playing the lottery online can ensure prizes do not go unclaimed, as those who win through TheLotter are notified immediately and can have winnings transferred directly to their account.

Last week, two welders – Darin Fox and Todd Reardon – picked up $221.7 million after hitting the Powerball jackpot.

While both have their eyes on new vehicles, they are taking their time before deciding how they should spend their winnings and Mr Fox explained: “It’s been a whirlwind figuring all this out. I’m used to living paycheck-to-paycheck.”

$44 million unclaimed in Wisconsin Lottery

  by: admin - Category:

Players of the Wisconsin Lottery appear to be unconcerned with collecting their cash, as the organisation has just revealed that over a period of 13 years, $44,852,936 has gone unclaimed, a figure that also doesn’t take into account scratch-card winnings that haven’t been picked up.

Spokesman for the group Andrew Bohage noted that it is expected unclaimed winnings will climb by approximately $3 million every year, stating that there are many people out there who don’t know there are mid-level amounts of cash outside the big jackpots, the Post-Crescent reports.

While some big tickets go apparently unwanted – such as a $1 million Powerball Power Play ticket that wasn’t collected within the 180-day timeframe – Mr Bohage explained that the majority of prizes that suffer this fate are the smaller ones.

January however saw Karmen Antilla of De Pere win $250,000 in the Mega Millions jackpot draw, receiving $168,125 after taxes.

Unclaimed Lottery Winnings

  by: admin - Category:

Picture the scene, you beat the odds and win the lottery jackpot. Now imagine this scene, you have no idea you’ve won!

Strange as it sounds, every year millions of dollars of lottery / loto winnings go unclaimed around the world. In all of the worlds strange twists of fate, in my mind this ranks the highest. You could be living in the city or the country side and if you had just double checked your ticket or saved it from your jeans pocket before putting them in wash, you could be sitting pretty on a large sum of cash. But for many this is not meant to be.

Its been reported that last year in the USA alone more than $600 million in lottery winnings were unclaimed. Enough to salvage the average high street bank icon smile Unclaimed Lottery Winnings

In California, $29 million went unclaimed during the 2006-07 fiscal year. And it could soon go up an additional $166,599.
