What is a multiplier? Lotto Terms Series Part 2 – November 16th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

In this second edition in our new series of understanding lotto terms, we want to help lottery fans boost their game by understanding what it means to choose the multiplier option.

Many lotto fans may have spotted the Megaplier when they play USA Mega Millions - this is what is known in the lottery world as a multiplier.

It is simply a way of multiplying a non-jackpot lottery prize for an additional charge.

Non-jackpot prizes are multiplied by the Megaplier number – 2, 3 or 4 – which means lotto fans can get a lot more bang for their buck if their lucky numbers come through.

In the USA Mega Millions draw, the match 5 prize – which is always $250,000 – is always multiplies by Megaplier number 4, instantly making the ticketholder a millionaire.

USA Powerball works in a similar play with its own Power Play option, which boosts a player’s non-jackpot winnings by multiplying it with the Power Play ball and entitles match 5 prize-winners to a $1 million payout, just by ticking a box.

The USA Oregon Megabucks also has a multiplier entitled the Kicker, which entitles any non-jackpot prize won in the game to be multiplied by four.

There’s no time like the present for lottery enthusiasts to give these optional extras a go to boost their winnings, with the next USA Powerball and Oregon Megabucks draws taking place today (November 16th) and the next USA Mega Millions game scheduled for Friday (November 18th).

Oregon lotto fan’s winning ticket ‘goes unnoticed for months’ – November 8th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

USA Oregon Megabucks fans may be dismayed to hear how a man from Portland left his winning lottery ticket on the fridge for three months, having not noticed that he had won a $21.8 million jackpot.

Leland Hanson bought the slip for the July 30th draw and had been merrily going about his business blissfully unaware that he was sitting on a life-changing pot of money.

According to The Republic, the lotto fan only thought to check the numbers on his ticket on the fridge when he was working out how to afford to pay a veterinary bill that had just come in.

As luck would have it, he realised he would have no problem matching that fee after the numbers matched up with the balls drawn in that game – a situation most USA Oregon Megabucks fans would want to find themselves in too.

Tomorrow’s (November 9th) USA Oregon Megabucks draw could make another lotto enthusiast a millionaire, as the jackpot is estimates to be a whopping $9.6 million after nobody won the top prize in the last game.

Megabucks Jackpot Winner Takes Home $12.5 million

  by: admin - Category:

In St. Hellen, Oregon, Rod Schwirse has taken home the $12.5 million Megabucks jackpot. Rod chose a onetime payment of $6.25 million before taxes, rather than the entire amount paid in 25 annual installments.
St. Helens Red Apple Market will receive a $100,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket to Mr. Schwirse. Schwirse’s $4 Quick Pick ticket held eight sets of numbers. In his first set of numbers, he matched all six. The winning Megabucks numbers were 5-12-25-29-31-43.
Schwirse’s prize is the 12th largest Megabucks jackpot ever won, according to Oregon Lottery officials.
