Italian SuperEnalotto ‘produces some of the world’s biggest jackpots’ – December 1st 2011

  by: admin - Category:

Lotto fans who love their jackpots may want to make sure they never miss a beat when it comes to the Italian SuperEnalotto, because this game has resulted in some of the largest top prizes ever to be won.

According to the Irish Independent, the lottery is the only one in Europe that can compete with the EuroMillions when weighing up draws according to their payouts.

This is no mean feat, as the Euro lotto resulted in two of the wealthiest lottery winners in the history of the game in July this year, when Christine and Colin Weir of Largs in Scotland landed the record-smashing €185 million top prize after weeks of rollovers.

Rollovers are why lottery fans cannot get enough of Italian SuperEnalotto, because the game has 90 balls in play which means a higher frequency of top payouts being increased for the next draw.

The newspaper noted that in October 2010, one lucky SuperEnalotto Italian fan landed a €178 million jackpot after the top prize rolled over three times a week for no fewer than nine months.

Lottery fans who fancy a go at the Italian SuperEnalotto can play online tonight (December 1st) at theLotter to be in with a chance of taking home the €38.2 million prize.

Lottery origins: How did today’s lotto games come about? – November 17th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

Some people may think that the lottery is a relatively modern pastime, but in reality, the concept of such games has been going on for not just hundreds of years but millennia.

Tracing back such activities through history, there have been records of lottos taking place in ancient civilisations, long before countries where lotteries are very popular now – such as the US and UK – were even using the alphabet.

Some of the earliest accounts of people playing lottery games can be found in Hang Dynasty records in China circa 205 to 187 BC.

It is believed a pastime called Keno originated at this time, with draws generating funding to finance government projects such as the Great Wall of China.

A century later, during the reign of Roman leader Augustus Caesar, a public lottery was held to raise money to finance the restoration of Rome.

Lotto games as we know them today began to crop up in the Middle Ages, with a draw in Florence being held with a cash prize in 1530 – it is thought this was the first such lottery in history where players could win a payout if they picked the right numbers.

Even today, lotteries are still evolving, with the Italian SuperEnalotto emerging from the famous Enalotto game, while new draws continue to crop up across the world.

Will new series of The Office inspire online lotto fans? – October 12th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

Fans of the comedy series The Office may find that the programme inspires online lotto players when it comes to their dreams of winning big on their favourite game.

In the eighth season of the US version of the popular show, the warehouse staff strike lucky and leave their jobs, while the characters who work upstairs are left fantasising about what they would do with a juicy lottery payout.

Funnyman Jim claims he would move Pam and their children to Maine, while his other half ruminates that she would prefer the New York district of SoHo because she would be able to have fancy coffee every morning.

Kelly, however, states she would stay in her role at Dunder Mifflin for a $1-a-day salary but would do no work and former warehouse worker Darryl is left devastated as he is not entitled to any of the winnings since he changed jobs.

Online lotto fans might want to try their hand at playing American games such as USA Powerball or USA Mega Millions to be in with a chance of making this fictional scene a reality at theLotter.

Many lotto players admit they would not retire after lottery win – October 11th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

In the wake of the happy news that 16 supermarket workers from Greater Manchester in the UK won £430,000 apiece playing UK National Lottery, one newspaper has asked its readers whether or not they would retire after such a windfall.

The Manchester Evening News calculated that a prize of this size could last 21.5 years if the player gave themselves an annual income of £20,000, while putting this sum in the bank could earn interest of around £1,118 per month.

Some readers claimed they would hand in their notice in a heartbeat if their lottery numbers came through for them, but many were not interested in a life of leisure.

Jan 2 commented that if she was in her 20s or 30s then she would carry on working, but at her age she would definitely retire.

And UK National Lottery fans may have to make this tricky decision tomorrow (October 12th) if their lotto numbers come through and they take home the £9.3 million jackpot.

  by: admin - Category:

They say a lottery win could make your dreams come true and for one lucky lotto fan this is certainly the case, as the UK National Lottery winner is going to use her cash to help her have a baby.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, 32-year-old Emma Allen won £430,000 when she and her colleagues scooped a £7 million win playing their favourite draw together last month.

Far from wishing for a life of fast cars and tropical holidays, the Asda employee revealed that she and her husband have already completed two courses of IVF (In Vitro Fertilisation) unsuccessfully and if they want to try again then it will cost £5,000.

“This money means I can carry on with the IVF and have unlimited treatments. It will give me the family I have dreamed of. It’s a happy ending,” she explained.

And another UK National Lottery fan may well find their luck comes in on Wednesday (October 12th), as the draw could give them the chance of winning £9.3 million.

Lottery winners “haven’t gone crazy” with prize money – October 3rd 2011

  by: admin - Category:

A pair of lottery winners from Wellingborough in the UK have claimed they are not going overboard with buying luxury items after scooping a multi-million pound jackpot.

Speaking to the Northamptonshire Evening Telegraph, Chris and Sue Bowers said they have been able to stop working, buy a new home, iPhone and cars.

“We haven’t gone crazy. I have been able to retire which has meant a lot because I was doing a physical job,” Mr Bowers told the newspaper.

The couple scooped £3.5 million in July playing the UK National Lottery and only realised they had won the top prize when they checked their numbers online using a smartphone.

However, despite being modest spenders, Mr Bowers has admitted having a new car each isn’t quite enough, as he has his heart set on a 4X4.

Lotto fans may be keen to play the next UK National Lottery game on October 5th, with the new jackpot set at a tempting £2.2 million.

Could playing with friends increase your Italian SuperEnalotto luck? – September 20th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

Lotto fans looking for ways to encourage their luck to come around when playing for the dizzyingly generous jackpots frequently seen on Italian SuperEnalotto might want to consider entering the draw with friends.

Pooling the money they would have spent individually and buying more lines between a group could, according to some lottery enthusiasts, make a difference if players are experiencing a losing streak.

Entering a lottery draw on a regular basis with friends and family may help increase everybody’s chances of winning and the payouts can either be used to buy more tickets or can be split between the players.

Today’s Italian SuperEnalotto top prize is €64.3 million – which could be enough to prompt some lotto fans to get in the game together to up their chances of taking home that life-changing jackpot.

Just last week, a group of co-workers from South Carolina who play lotto together split a €250,000 prize between them.

Co-workers split $250,000 USA Mega Millions prize – September 19th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

A group of 13 co-workers from South Carolina have split a $250,000 prize after their luck came in playing USA Mega Millions.

The gang – who work at a Spartanburg County manufacturing plant – picked the first five numbers called in Tuesday’s (September 13th) lotto draw and after the division of the generous payout, each one of them will take home just over $13,000.

Two of the colleagues represented the group when they collected the winnings from the SC Education Lottery offices in Columbia after they discovered the next day that they had won the prize.

When asked what they will be spending their lottery money on, one of the workers claimed he would be leaving that decision up to his wife, while another said it would be going to the University of South Carolina, where their daughter is studying.

And lotto fans keen on getting in on the USA Mega Millions action this week can enter tomorrow’s (September 20th) draw, with a chance to win a $75 million jackpot.

Airport workers bag £130,000 each playing UK National Lottery – August 4th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

A group of Heathrow Airport baggage handlers have won themselves £130,000 apiece when their numbers came up in a mid-week UK National Lottery draw.

The eight men finally struck the jackpot 17 years after first deciding to play the lottery together and won a life-changing £1.2 million on Wednesday July 20th.

But it was not just dumb luck that resulted in the gang’s generous lotto win, lost baggage supervisor Gerry McNamara told Skyport Heathrow that he had been cross-referencing numbers on the internet to find out which were the luckiest – and this time the plan worked.

The group are now planning to try their luck playing EuroMillions and have said their plans for this load of winnings include holidays, paying off mortgages and putting their kids through university.

One lucky couple to have struck gold playing EuroMillions is the Sutherlands from Wick in Scotland, who took home an enormous €324,950 prize five weeks after their winning lotto numbers were drawn.
