UK National Lottery winner to spend cash on IVF – October 10th 2011

They say a lottery win could make your dreams come true and for one lucky lotto fan this is certainly the case, as the UK National Lottery winner is going to use her cash to help her have a baby.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, 32-year-old Emma Allen won £430,000 when she and her colleagues scooped a £7 million win playing their favourite draw together last month.

Far from wishing for a life of fast cars and tropical holidays, the Asda employee revealed that she and her husband have already completed two courses of IVF (In Vitro Fertilisation) unsuccessfully and if they want to try again then it will cost £5,000.

“This money means I can carry on with the IVF and have unlimited treatments. It will give me the family I have dreamed of. It’s a happy ending,” she explained.

And another UK National Lottery fan may well find their luck comes in on Wednesday (October 12th), as the draw could give them the chance of winning £9.3 million.

Airport workers bag £130,000 each playing UK National Lottery – August 4th 2011

A group of Heathrow Airport baggage handlers have won themselves £130,000 apiece when their numbers came up in a mid-week UK National Lottery draw.

The eight men finally struck the jackpot 17 years after first deciding to play the lottery together and won a life-changing £1.2 million on Wednesday July 20th.

But it was not just dumb luck that resulted in the gang’s generous lotto win, lost baggage supervisor Gerry McNamara told Skyport Heathrow that he had been cross-referencing numbers on the internet to find out which were the luckiest – and this time the plan worked.

The group are now planning to try their luck playing EuroMillions and have said their plans for this load of winnings include holidays, paying off mortgages and putting their kids through university.

One lucky couple to have struck gold playing EuroMillions is the Sutherlands from Wick in Scotland, who took home an enormous €324,950 prize five weeks after their winning lotto numbers were drawn.

Co-workers strike lucky playing USA Hoosier Lottery – August 2nd 2011

A group of lottery-loving colleagues from La Porte in the US state of Indiana have won more than $14,000 apiece after playing USA Hoosier Lottery in June.

According to the Herald Argus, the lucky group, who are all employed by the Lake Michigan and Indiana Railroad of Burns Harborbegan, have been buying their lotto tickets together for around five years.

However, the team only learnt that they had won a $200,000 prize when it was revealed a lucky ticket had been sold in the area.

After tax and the division of the payout, each member of the group has taken home $14,324 in lottery prize money and one player, Dave Emmons, claimed his winnings may go towards a fishing trip in Canada but added: “I’ll probably just sit on [the money] because it’s nice to know that it’s there if you need it.”

Library co-workers scoop $250,000 playing USA Mega Millions – July 27th 2011

A group of librarians have bagged the generous sum of $250,000 playing USA Mega Millions last week.

Eight colleagues working at the Blackstone Memorial Library in Branford in Connecticut hand picked the lottery numbers that were called out on the July 19th draw but missed out of the Mega Ball which would have won them the jackpot.

Reference librarian Debbie Trofatter was in charge of checking the group’s lotto numbers and revealed when she discovered their luck was in she couldn’t help but scream.

Ms Trofatter described how her colleagues took the news when she broke it to them and stated: “There was a lot of shouting, hugging and kissing going on, that’s for sure.”

She added that she and her workmates would continue playing USA Mega Millions – and who knows, maybe next time they’ll take home the jackpot!

And there’s plenty of time to get in the game in time for the next USA Mega Millions draw on Friday (July 29th) with a chance to win the $74 million jackpot.
