Newsreaders realise colleague won lotto ‘live on air’ – November 10th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

Two Canadian news presenters realised their colleague had won the lottery as they announced the results live on the air.

Squire Barnes and Sophie Lui were stunned when they read out that a C$2 million lotto prize had been scooped by their television station’s sports reporter Barry Deley.

The lucky lottery player was shopping for groceries while the announcement was being made, so the news programme called the presenter up and surprised him why he was running his errands.

As Mr Barnes and Ms Squires read out the lotto results, however, there was some initial confusion as to whether or not the winner was actually their colleague, however the penny soon dropped.

Mr Deley said: “It’s unbelievable. It’s amazing.”

He added: “You know people are going to think this is kind of fishy, don’t you?”

Lottery fans who think they are due some Canadian luck, just like Mr Deley, could play Canada Lotto 649 to be in with a chance of taking home C$22 million on Saturday (November 12th).
