Lotto fan wins C$90 ‘after playing same numbers for 25 years’ – November 1st 2011

A lottery fan from Winnipeg has taken home C$90 in lotto winnings playing the numbers he has used week in and week out for a quarter of a century.

According to the Metro News however, the player – who wanted to remain nameless – nearly lost out on his chance to collect his long-awaited lottery money after his lotto ticket was stolen.

The 61-year-old thanked the Manitoba Lotteries’ security measures, which prevented a shop assistant who was asked to check the numbers from allegedly cashing in on the prize, fobbing the real winner off with C$5.

“[Lottery officials] knew the ticket belonged to me,” he said, adding that he is “surprised” about his luck and admitted he is “pretty excited” about what he is going to do with his newfound cash, revealing plans for a car and some projects around the house.
