Lottery winner ‘to buy mother a house with prize money’ – November 16th 2011

Lottery players may already know what they would buy themselves if they landed $1 million playing their favourite draw, but one fan has put his family’s happiness before his own after striking lucky.

The lotto player from San Jose in the US has claimed he is going to use his enormous windfall to buy his mum a new house.

Speaking to NBC Bay Area, the man – who wishes only to be identified as Juan T – admitted he is an “avid” fan of playing his favourite draws and on the day he bought his ticket and checked the numbers, he knew immediately he was a winner.

The fortunate lotto enthusiast took home $1 million and admitted when it dawned on him that he had landed a life-changing sum of money, he went straight home to tell his mother the good news.

When asked about what his priority purchases will be, Juan T stated his mother’s new house is going to be one of the most important things he buys with the money.

However, he had not put his own dreams entirely on the backburner, admitting that he might treat himself to a new Corvette.

Newsreader Jamie Owen told BBC Wales Online recently that family should come first when it comes to allocating what to spend a lottery win on and said the first thing he would buy is a big lunch for his nearest and dearest so they could decide together how to splash the cash.
