A former mechanic from Woodbridge, Ontario, can look forward to a very comfortable retirement now, as the pensioner has scooped C$50 million playing Canadian Lotto Max.

Lottery player Franco Varone has said he can hardly believe how much his life has changed as a result of his enormous windfall and admitted when he realised the numbers on his lotto ticket matched the winning sequence, he began to tremble and his wife started to cry.

Mr Varone shared the news with his family on Canadian Thanksgiving and has claimed he is looking forward to treating his loved ones to a trip away with his lottery cash and plans to make his 50th wedding anniversary “extra special”.

“I will take my time in deciding how to spend the C$50 million,” he said.

President and chief executive officer of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation Rod Philips stated Mr Varone is the biggest lotto winner in the history of the province.
