Lotto winner made a new life after scooping £5.4 million – October 24th 2011

A lucky mother who won £5.4 million playing UK National Lottery back in 1998 has revealed how much her life has changed since she scooped her prize.

For many, a lotto payout is life-changing, but for Deanna Sampson this literally was the case, as the hard-working parent decided to leave the loveless marriage she was trapped in and start life afresh with the freedom the money gave her and her children.

Before her luck came in, she had £78.64 to her name and was bringing up two little ones on benefits, but when she realised she was a multi-millionaire she decided things would be different.

Ms Sampson found love again with a businessman and the pair set up a restaurant in Chesterfield, where the lottery winner now works six days a week.

“I’ve gone from having nothing and suffering heartbreak and loss to being ­really happy. If you use the money wisely, it’s a fantastic opportunity for anyone,” she stated.
