Lottery winners “haven’t gone crazy” with prize money – October 3rd 2011

A pair of lottery winners from Wellingborough in the UK have claimed they are not going overboard with buying luxury items after scooping a multi-million pound jackpot.

Speaking to the Northamptonshire Evening Telegraph, Chris and Sue Bowers said they have been able to stop working, buy a new home, iPhone and cars.

“We haven’t gone crazy. I have been able to retire which has meant a lot because I was doing a physical job,” Mr Bowers told the newspaper.

The couple scooped £3.5 million in July playing the UK National Lottery and only realised they had won the top prize when they checked their numbers online using a smartphone.

However, despite being modest spenders, Mr Bowers has admitted having a new car each isn’t quite enough, as he has his heart set on a 4X4.

Lotto fans may be keen to play the next UK National Lottery game on October 5th, with the new jackpot set at a tempting £2.2 million.
