Darrell Garner and his fiancee Candace from Cobb County in Georgia – who have three children aged between ten and 13 – said they will be using their prize money to get married and buy a house, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

When he realised he had won, Mr Garner claimed he and his other half could not hold back the tears of joy, because it meant a whole new start for his loved ones.

“All we could think about was our family,” the winner remarked.
