A couple from Maryland are now $108 million richer thanks to winning big playing USA Powerball – and they may yet decide to go public with their happy news.

According to a lotto spokesperson speaking to the Baltimore Sun, the Abingdon pair stepped forward to collect their prize yesterday (September 13th 2011).

The lottery official revealed the lucky winners have not decided whether they want to be identified after receiving their windfall, which was won on September 7th.

Lottery communications director Carole Evrett said: “We are hoping to get an answer soon and are, of course, hoping they agree to publicity.”

And Ms Evrett may be especially keen that the couple agree to be identified because they are in fact the first ever USA Powerball winners for the state of Maryland.
