According to ABC News, a survey of 1,500 people by TakingtheKids and Travelocity found 37 per cent of mums and dads wanted to treat their children to a vacation in a foreign city, with 27 per cent opting for European destinations.

Overall, Hawaii and the Mediterranean topped parents’ lists of the places they would want to go to on the holiday of a lifetime.

Furthermore, 22 per cent fancied a relaxing beach break, 11 per cent preferred the chance to see wildlife and nine per cent picked theme park paradise, Orlando.
