North Carolina man wins $200,000 playing USA Powerball – August 23rd 2011

A lucky lotto player from Asheville, North Carolina, has scooped the princely sum of $200,000 thanks to picking five lucky numbers playing USA Powerball.

Will Schneider, a software programmer discovered he was a wealthy man while cooking dinner recently when a news bulletin came on the television reporting that a winning ticket had been bought locally.

Just to be sure, the lottery fan checked his ticket and discovered his numbers matched the five white balls making him $200,000 richer.

“I had hoped for three and the Powerball. I’d take anything. But I didn’t think $200,000,” Mr Schneider gushed, adding: “It will help put some girls through college.”

Another lucky household, this time based in the US state of Minneapolis, struck gold playing USA Powerball recently.

Tom and Kathleen Morris won $228.9 million when they played their favourite lottery game just days after realising they did not have enough money to retire just yet.
