A huge lottery win gives those lucky souls who pick their numbers correctly the chance to make their dreams come true – and one forestry worker is doing just that with his NZD 12 million prize after taking home the New Zealand Powerball jackpot on Saturday (August 20th).

The winner said: “I love fishing and diving, so buying a new boat would be a dream come true.”

He had to ask his boss for the day off so he could make the full-day’s round trip to Wellington from his home of Bay of Plenty to claim his payout.

In addition to buying a boat, he and his partner – who have opted to remain anonymous – revealed they would like to do something for their town to spread their good fortune.
