USA Mega Millions winner ‘nearly threw ticket away’ – July 11th 2011

One lucky West Virginian lottery fan has taken home his $250,000 USA Mega Millions prize after nearly throwing away his winning ticket.

The fortunate player – whose identity has remained anonymous – claimed his print-out was destined for the rubbish bin when he was passing by a sign that stated an unknown local USA Mega Millions fan had struck lucky.

He checked the winning numbers against his ticket and then rang home for his family to double check.

According to the Cumberland Times-News, the 40-year-old, who won after picking all the numbers called on the July 1st draw except the Mega Ball, revealed he was planning to spend his newfound riches on a new GMC Sierra truck and a hunting trip in the autumn.

And a lucky UK resident scooped £250,000 in a USA Mega Millions draw recently, after she bought her ticket online.

The Lakeland Echo reported that Lancaster resident Katie took home her lotto prize money after picking five winning numbers.
