Lottery money goes towards eagle protection project – July 20th 2011

Lotto funding has gone to a good cause in Scotland, where £235,000 will be put towards protecting the white tailed sea eagle.

The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) donated the money towards the scheme, which will support education on the birds of prey as well as extend efforts to have the creatures reintroduced to eastern Scotland in the coming year.

Director of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds Scotland Stuart Housden thanked the organisation for granting the charity the generous sum of lottery money.

“We are delighted, thanks to HLF, that we will now have the opportunity to extend our work and involve more people in the conservation story,” he said.

The HLF is known for supporting good causes with lottery money and earlier this month, it allocated £15.9 million to invest in eight British parks.

Television presenter Alan Titchmarsh welcomed the lotto grant and hopes the improvements it finances will allow future generations to enjoy the green spaces.
