Exciting changes coming to USA Powerball – July 5th 2011

The USA Powerball lottery will be changing from January 15^th 2012, to celebrate the game’s 20^th anniversary.

From the beginning of next year, anyone who buys a ticket will be in with a shot of taking home double jackpots, with prize pots starting from $40 million – double the amount it is now, the Lottery Post reports.

The USA Powerball offers players nine ways to become a winner! With the new changes, the prize amounts are being revised as well, but for the better.

The second level prize has also now moved up from $200,000 to $1 million in cash and the lowest prize level has climbed from $3 to $4.

While gamers will still have to pick their first five numbers from 1 to 59, the Powerball pool has been reduced from 39 numbers down to 35, which means people have a better chance of winning something when they play.

Big jackpots are not all that lottery players will be able to take advantage of next year, however. Another change to come in on January 15^th is better overall odds for a greater number of winners.

Draws take place every Wednesday and Saturday at 22:59 Eastern Time and you can buy your tickets from theLotter up to three hours before the official draw takes place.
