Couple win USA Mega Millions jackpot – June 28th 2011

A couple from Anne Arundel in Maryland, US, have struck it lottery lucky this month, claiming $250,000 on the USA Mega Millions.

Although their names have not been revealed by Maryland Lottery officials, the pair now intend to go for a spot of salmon fishing along the Columbia River and potentially head off to Alaska for a bit of a holiday.

The husband – whose win came just days before his 56^th birthday – said an “eerie calm” came over him after he realised his lotto numbers had dropped.

His wife, meanwhile, “sat there in complete silence when she realised we had hit”, he remarked.

He went on to give other lotto players hungry for a win a bit of advice, saying: “Don’t give up.”

Earlier this month, a 33-year-old woman from Elkton in the state also lined her pockets with a $250,000 lottery win, stating that she intends to settle some bills and buy a house.
