New Zealand resident wins $10.6 million on lottery – May 25th 2011

New Zealand’s latest lottery millionaire has been made, with a Rotorua resident lining his pockets with a cool $10, 643,434.

The player – who has not been named as yet by the New Zealand Lotteries Commission – hit the big time on the Powerball First Division and also won $500,000 on the Lotto First Division.

Todd McLeay, chief executive of the Commission, said it just goes to show that the jackpot can be snapped up at any time.

“It’s only a few weeks on from our record breaking Must Be Won Powerball jackpot – that saw two players split the big prize and take home $17.7 million each,” he remarked.

Earlier this month, another anonymous winner banked $333,333 in the Lotto First Division and decided to use her spoils to visit her sister in the UK.

“I’m so excited, as I’ve only seen her twice in 52 years – with my win, I can finally afford to go back,” the lottery player observed.
