Mega Millions winner to split cash with kids – May 4th 2011

A retired bus driver who hit the big time on the Mega Millions lottery has said he will split the cash with his three children, as well as give some of it to charity.

John Gillen, 69, walked away with $72 million on the April 15^th draw and said he had to have his family double-check the ticket for him.

“I didn’t believe what I was seeing,” he remarked.

Upon checking his stubs he found his numbers – 22, 23, 33, 39, 48 and the Mega Ball of 29 – had come in.

Now, Mr Gillen is pondering just what to do with all his cash, quoted by the New York Daily News as saying that he and his wife’s heads are “still spinning”.

“[I] was always worried what I was going to leave the kids besides bills,” he remarked.

Other lottery millionaires presented with cheques include cook Habib Ullah of Brooklyn, who won $3 million.
