Lottery winner used relatives’ birthdays as numbers – May 17th 2011

  by: admin - Category:

Some people like to choose their lottery numbers at random, different players are more methodical, while others still prefer to select digits that have personal significance.

And this latter option certainly helped one Australian from Albion Park in New South Wales on his way to becoming a millionaire, after he played his grandchildren’s birthdates and won $15 million in the country’s Powerball game.

The man – who has elected to remain anonymous – said because the digits are so familiar to him, he knew he’d won straightaway when he saw the draw results in the paper.

“Everything has changed now. I’ll set up my kids and look after my wife. I’ll buy her the dream house she has always wanted. I think we can also safely say that I’ll retire,” he remarked.

To win the Australian Powerball game, five numbers must be correctly drawn from the 45 balls, as well as the Powerball digit. The lottery guarantees a minimum $3 million first division prize pool every week, so playing a few games could be a great idea.
