Lost numbers used to win lotto draws – May 26th 2011

Fans of US television series Lost have been using lottery numbers made famous in the show to enter draws – with some success.

CBS reports that enthusiasts have played lottery games with the same digits that Hurley used to scoop the jackpot in the drama show, the last episode of which aired a year ago today.

Some got lucky in the Mega Millions draw, while another individual who used the numbers – 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42 – to scoop a cash prize.

Jessica Derschowitz, writer for the news source, revealed she also filled in a lottery with the figures alongside a co-worker who is also a fan of the show, with the pair splitting the winnings they received.

However, Lost fans who are determined to win the lotto may want to consider choosing a number other than 42, as John Haigh said in a recent article for PlusMaths that digits which are a multiple of seven are some of the most popular choices among lottery players, increasing the chance of a jackpot being shared if such a figure is one of the winning numbers.
