$1 million won on USA Powerball – May 18th 2011

The USA Powerball has seen yet another lucky soul hit the big time, with an Albuquerque resident claiming $1 million for his own.

Andrew Torn picked up his prize from the New Mexico Lottery after his numbers – 8, 17, 18, 40 and 44 – came in during the May 14^th draw.

Upon discovering his newfound wealth, the Solid Waste Management Department supervisor said he “thanked God. Then I had a cup of coffee”.

Mr Torn now intends to buy himself and his family a new house and invest in a spa to complete the backyard.

Earlier this month, Eli Valdez from Santa Fe also took home some cash, winning a $200,000 Powerball prize when his numbers – which he chose merely because he liked the look of them – dropped during the May 4^th game.

“Family comes first,” he remarked, noting that the lottery money will be shared between him, his wife and their three children.
