A couple from DeMotte, US have won big after playing Powerball.

Jerry and Theresa Seitzinger scooped $200,000 (£124,100) when they matched five numbers on the game – narrowly missing out on an even bigger prize as their ticket did not include the Powerball number – nine, NWI Times reports.

The pair have used the same numbers for over two years and would have taken home $101 million had they picked the correct final ball – but claimed they were happy enough with their winnings.

Upon collecting their prize, Ms Seitzinger remarked: “I thought he was going to have the big one.”

The couple – who disclosed that their combination was a mix of anniversaries, birthdays and significant dates – revealed they will place the money in the bank in order to plan for a comfortable retirement.
