No More Lottery Promos on Mobile

All mobile phone operators in Nigeria are prohibited to promote any advertising messages which do not have the license from the Nigeria Communications Commission till further notice due to spam augmentation.

The same rules apply to short message service or SMS which are filled with false promises of winning non existing lottery jackpots.

Visafone, Zain, Etisalat, Globacom and MTN were among the mobile operators supporting this decision. The fight against lottery frauds is public and Nigeria Communications Commission is empowered to enforce the law.
