Benton Couple Claims $4.85 Million Tennessee Lotto Plus Jackpot

  by: admin - Category:

The close-knit town of Benton, population 16,000, is abuzz with excitement about the US$ 4.85 Million win claimed by Bruce and Carol Maynard. Their ticket matched all six Lotto Plus numbers drawn on Tuesday, Jan. 12.

Bruce, a former truck driver, said the excitement of neighbors and others in the community is much greater than their own. “I was talking to one of my neighbors and he kept screaming and hollering and I wondered, why is he doing that?” he said with a laugh.
Not that the Maynards aren’t thrilled—they are just keeping calm. In fact, Bruce and Carol appeared to be just as interested in discussing the University of Tennessee football news as they were the jackpot win.
“I told myself we were going to win, and here we are,” said Bruce. The Maynards don’t have definite plans for their prize other than to “use it wisely” and take their family of three children and four grandchildren on a cruise.
Tuesday’s jackpot was the second largest in Lotto Plus history. The largest jackpot of US$ 11.7 Million was won on Jan. 20, 2009.
