Italian Lottery Scandal

  by: admin - Category:

MILAN, Dec 21 (Reuters) – Italy’s antitrust authority has widened its inquiry into the way unlisted Italian company Sisal SpA allows other operators to sell its SuperEnalotto lottery game online, the authority said on Monday.

The authority, which launched its original inquiry in July, is now querying the terms of the access agreement Sisal has with rival companies, it said in its decision.

Lottomatica SpA (LTO.MI) and Snai SpA (SNAI.MI) sell SuperEnalotto online, according to their websites, but neither was able to comment further immediately.

“(The terms) limit commercial initiatives at non-Sisal remote sales points thus creating discrimination between Sisal and others authorised to gather (SuperEnalotto bets),” it said.

Sisal’s SuperEnalotto game has performed strongly this year, particularly ahead of a record 147.8 million-euro ($211.8 million) jackpot in August.
