Lottery Games Better Business Bureau Warning

Better Business Bureau of Eastern North Carolina warns consumers to use caution if they receive winning lottery letter notifications from the Australian Lottery games. A local consumer in Dunn, N.C. has received a “winning notification” letter mailed as part of the Lottery Winners International program.

The letter urges the consumer not to reveal winnings to public officials and to call the fake organization for further details.

Foreign lottery game scams are a growing problem, and many consumers who are unaware of such traps may have their personal identification or account information stolen. Such scams may be solicited through the internet or the postal service.

BBB recommends that consumers not respond to these letters, but instead contact BBB through its Web site at www.bbb.org to report the issue.
