US Powerball Jackpot Sets Personal Best

The US Powerball Lottery distributed a $580 million jackpot to two lucky winners in the November 28th draw. The winning tickets, purchased in Arizona and Missouri, will split the second-largest jackpot in history, behind the $656 million Mega Millions jackpot from March, 2012. In total, 8.9 million winners took home awards from the lottery’s nine prize divisions, including 66 $1-2 million second prizes. Check US Powerball results here.

American lottery players frantically snatched up lotto tickets in the hours leading up to the draw, with ticket sales quoted as high as 131,000 per minute. The huge influx of ticket sales drove the jackpot up to $580 million from $425 million between Saturday night and last night’s draw.
